The XTR1 is an affordable alternative for programming Midland XTR and Syntech II mobiles. The circuit design is an electrical equivalent of the 70-1308A programmer with the added enhancement of a power LED that indicates a good power connection to the radio being programmed. Our product offers a feature no other programmer does - the ability to quickly and inexpensively replace the 10 pin IDC ribbon cable and connector if it becomes damaged.
The programmer is offered assembled and tested or as a kit. The circuit board is high quality, double-sided, and has plated-through holes. All parts are included in the kit and assembly usually requires less than 30 minutes.
See our Radio Identification Page if you are not sure what programmer your radio requires.
Midland made the 70-1309A programming cable for the Bantam/Titan series . Our adaptor cable is designed to work with the XTR1 and eliminates the need for another programming cable which means reduced cost for you. Please refer to our Bantam and Titan pages for more information about these radios.
The Bantam/Titan adaptor cable connects to the XTR programmer by unplugging the 10 pin IDC cable and plugging in the 10 pin IDC cable with the DB9 connector on it and then connecting the adaptor cable to the DB9 connector.. Note: If you have one of our earlier models, it will not have an IDC clamped header and will require another method of connecting the Bantam/Titan adaptor. Email us if you need more information.

The XTR1 kit takes less than 30 minutes to assemble. Because of the small circuit traces, good soldering skills are required.

The XTR1 plugs into your PC's 9 pin serial port and the connection cable is 30 inches long. The board has a power LED to indicate connection of the cable to the radio and the XTR1 draws it's power from the radio, not the serial port.
Software is not included and we do not sell it or provide information on where to get it. Please check our information page for links to other websites of interest to Midland radio owners. Because the demand for assembled boards has greatly increased, I now try to maintain a small inventory of them.
