Titan Mobile Information

Titans are narrow band compliant and each channel can be programmed as wide or narrow.  They are 120 channel radios but can be modified for 320 channels with the addition of a 24C16 EEPROM 8 pin chip that plugs into a empty socket on the circuit board.   Titans program through the RJ45 mic connector on the front of the radio and require Titan software. GCC offers an adaptor cable that will let you use the XTR1 to program these radios.  Titans will not work outside of their band split except by reprogramming the radio with a different band split.  If you want your VHF B range Titan to work on 2 meters, you will have to program it as an A range radio.

UPDATE on UHF B Range Titans - A way has been found to program 440 freqs into the radios but it requires conversion of a saved file and cannot be viewed in the software once it is converted back.  RX sensitivity is degraded even with touch up tuning of the front end. Search the archives of the MidlandLMR Yahoo Group for more information.

GCC currently has for sale a few UHF 120 channel Titans.  Email for more information.

Power cables may be purchased from Bridgeman Communications and they have wiring diagrams available.

Programming Tip:  The Titan must be turned off before you connect the programmer otherwise it will start scanning and will not enter the programming mode.

Hacked Power Connector For Bantam, XTR 8 channel,  and Titan

WARNING!!! I assume no responsibility if you decide to make your own power cable and damage your radio by wiring or connecting it wrong. Please refer to the site above for proper connections to the radio.

You can make a connector by robbing the main connector off a bad ATX computer power supply and cutting down the molex connector so it will plug into the radio .  Using a very small jewelers screw driver, you can press the tabs on the pins and remove the wires.  Rearrange them so you don't get the power leads mixed up with the other wires.  The tab on the computer connector won't match up when you cut the plug down but the connector seats good and won't come out that easily.
